Resilience (Single)

by Saffron A

Resilience is the first song from Saffron A's upcoming EP. It is a highly emotional piece that illustrates sexual assault and personal safety. The music is minimalistic, but the delivery is powerful and highly emotional.

Walking in the summer breeze
Dancing through the city streets
I can feel the rhythm, slowly, moving
Throughout my body
Smiling softly in a crowd
Catching glances, locking eyes
and I'll laugh a bit too loud
When I forget to feel afraid

He taught me to hide
Within myself
After he tightened
His grip around my wrist
When he took what he wanted
He told me it wasn't anything
He reminded me how to cry
And I haven't been fine
I haven't been fine
I haven't been fine

Now I dance inside my room
Twirl in skirts inside my dreams
I wear earbuds when I'm walking
So I can't hear men catcalling at me
My leather jacket is my shield
Tactile armour till I've healed
I will find my way back
To the woman that I was
I will find my way back
To being fearless, like I was
I will find my way back
to the woman that I was

I'm not the only one, No
I'm not the only one
You're not the only one
